For me, it’s cooking. The methodical nature of the process is something that can take me right into Flow (cliche these days) and feel grateful that I get to provide a meal to my wife. Gardening is also high on the gratitude scale. We grow garlic and I enjoy the process. It’s almost reversed from normal gardening. You plant cloves in the fall and then tend it early spring and harvest in summer. I feel enormous gratitude when I see garlic scapes poking up at the end of winter. I like the idea that we can all be fractional mini-monks. Before Enlightenment; chop wood, carry water. After Enlightenment; chop wood, carry water.
